Winter Fun

Winter visitors come to The Sundance Lodge to enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Colorado snow capped mountains and to enjoy the winter activities that Colorado has to offer. The Eldora Mountain Ski Area is located just five miles from Nederland and the Sundance Lodge. So, visit us during the spectacular winter sports season and enjoy alpine skiing and snowboarding at Eldora Ski Area, and nordic skiing and snowshoeing at the Eldora Nordic Center.  Or, strap on your cross-country skis or snowshoes at the lodge, and head off into the hills – the nearby Magnolia Forest Service trails provide miles and miles of winter trails, extending as far as Rollins Pass on the Continental Divide!

Eldora Ski Area receives an average of 300 inches a year and boasts one of Colorado’s best snow-making systems. 

Terrain (From beginner to expert): the most difficult area is Corona Bowl – double black diamond! (Knarly.) With the base at 9300′ and top at 10800′, the ski area sports a 1500′ vertical drop.

Riders:  Eldora offers the Woodward Mountain Park!  The park is complete with base area learning zones, large freestyle zones and everything in between.  Check it out here!

Skiers: Eldora has 680 acres of ski-able terrain with the longest 3 miles long. Watch for upcoming events.  Check them out here!

X-Country: Nordic skiing is an easy 5 minute drive from your room which will put you at the Eldora Nordic Center Trail Heads where there is an abundance of trails to explore.  Check it out here!
